No. Our products are activated when you agitate the item in the liquid. Soaking will not help. We do not recommend soaking any metals for extended periods in any liquid, as it can harm them.

When kept clean by frequent straining, the solution will last indefinitely. After use, strain your cleaner through a cotton cloth and pour back into the original or other non-metal container for storage. Secure with an air-tight lid to prevent evaporation.

As often as you need. There is no harm in continuing to clean your silver, gold, jewelry, brass, copper, stainless, etc. with our solution again and again, though we know you’ll see long lasting results from the first use!

We highly recommend against dishwashing your silver, as it can harm your items beyond repair.

Gold, diamonds, and sterling silver jewelry may be safely cleaned in the SilverMate® cleaner. Brass and copper jewelry should be cleaned in the BrassMate cleaner. 

Caution: Never put pearls or any jewelry encrusted with semiprecious stones i.e. turquoise, rubies, onyx, sapphires, lapis, and others in this cleaner. It can bleach their color.

Submerge as much of the item in the cleaner as possible. Soak a cloth or cotton ball with the cleaning solution and wet the dry parts of the item with the solution. Then, rotate the item so that the previously un-submerged parts are now submerged in the solution, and wet down the parts not submerged. Note: there is still no scrubbing or buffing required! Repeat dipping/submerging all sides until tarnish, etc. is removed. Rinse item in cold water and dry with cloth or paper towel. 

It will do no good. Silver, silver-plate and gold are best cleaned with the SilverMate® cleaner. 18/10 Stainless is best cleaned with the StainlessMate® solution.

All silver coins may be safely cleaned in SilverMate® cleaner. For copper coins, we recommend BrassMate, our brass and copper cleaner.
